  • Sputnik Program

    The Sputnik Program was made by Mikhail Tikhonravov. It was the first satellite to orbit Earth. It was launched in Moscow, Russia, and the reason of this was for the Russians to beat the Americans at the space race.
  • Pioneer Program

    The Pioneer Program was a NASA involved and TRW manufactured program that was a series of unmanned spacecrafts sent on different missions. They went to study ionizing radiation, cosmic rays, magnetic fields, and micrometeorites. It costed $170 million for one spacecraft and the last Pioneer signal was on January 22, 2003.
  • Mercury Program

    The Mercury program was a NASA involved project launched in the US. Its purpose was to observe how a human would feel in space. This was the first man-in-space program.
  • Venera Probes

    The Venera Probes were unmanned probes that were sent to Venus from the Soviet Union to study Venu's atmosphere and surface. The project ended in 1983 and they were the first spacecrafts to successfully land on Venus.
  • Gemini Program

    Gemini was a NASA involved project launched in the US, and the prupose was to develop the US's ability to maneuver in space. The Gemini program practiced techniques of rendezvous
  • Mariners

    The Mariners were a NASA involved project sent to Mars, Mercury, and Venus to take pictures of the landscape there. The last launch was on May 30, 1971.
  • Space Station

    The first Space Station Salyut was sent from Russia to receive data from there in space. On May 14, 1973 the Americans launched the Space Station Skylab.
  • Viking Probes

    The Viking Probes were a NASA involved project sent to Mars to study Mars and search for the possibility of life there. There were two probes and it costed $2 billion. It officially ended November 13, 1982.
  • Voyager Probes

    The Voyager Probes were made by NASA, and were a two-part mission to explore our solar system and beyond. They each costed $250 million and are both still in space right now.
  • Space Shuttle Project

    The Space Shuttle Project was a NASA involved project that was to explore unkown areas of space and to find a faster and less costly way to travel through space. There was the Atlantis, the Columbia, Discovery, and the Endeavor.The last flight was on July 21, 2011
  • Magellan Spacecraft

    The Magellan Spacecraft was a NASA involved project sent to map the surface of Venus. It mapped 98% of Venus and officially ended October 13, 1994.
  • Galileo Spacecraft

    The Galileo Spacecraft was a NASA and European involved program that was to study about Jupiter and its moons. It costed $1.6 billion and people thought that Jupiter could answer many questions about the universe. The mission was over when the spacecraft crashed on September 21, 2003
  • Hubble Space Telescope

    The Hubble Space Telescope was in charge by NASA and the European Space Agency. Its mission was to observe more about the galaxy and it costed $1.5 billion
  • N.E.A.R. Mission

    The N.E.A.R. Mission was taken in charge by NASA and by John Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory. It was one of NASA's first Discovery missions and the mission was to explore and asteroid near Earth: Eros.
  • Cassini Missions

    The Cassini Missions were taken care of by NASA, the European Space Agency, and the Italian Space Agency. The reason was to explore Saturn and its biggest moon Titan. It costed $3.3 billion and it was the heaviest unmanned spacecraft launched.
  • Genesis Spacecraft

    The Genesis Spacecraft was a NASA involved spacecraft that went to collect samples of solar wind to find what the Sun was made of. It costed $264 million and was over when the spacecraft crashed-landed in Utah.
  • Mars Exploration Rover

    The Mars Exploration Rover was a NASA involved project sent to Mars to seek the possibility of life on Mars. It costed $645 million and the two rovers are still on Mars.
