    In 1492 Columbus sail the alantic ocean with three ships and spain on his side. Queen isabella gave him these ships along with an army of men.

  • The Pylgryms Leaving England

    The Pylgryms Leaving England
    the mayflower left england on september 6th 1620 and with 102 passengers and about 30 crew members aboard the small 100-foot ship.
  • Seeing Land

    They saw land, which was Cape Cod. After days of sailing south to the Colony of Virginia, strong winter seas stoped them to return to the harbor at Cape Cod, where they stoped on November 11/21. The Mayflower was stoped on November 11/21. The Mayflower Compact was signed that day.

    The growth of cities accelerated dramatically starting on this date until 1860. New York grew from 312,000 citizens to 805,000. Most immigrants were either German or Irish.

    In this year about 400 slaves were freed from John Randolph. Over 250,000 free blacks lived in the slaveholding states by the beginning of the civil war. If slavery wouldn't have ended the the blacks wouldn't get rights.

    Congress declared war 40 to 2 in the senate and 174 to 14 in the house. After the Americans won Mexico agreed to give us California and New Mexico. They also agreed to acknowledge that the Rio Grande is the boundry line of Texas.

    the news of the gold ruch brought 300,000 people to California from the rest of the United States and on ships. Of the 300,000, approximately half arrived by sea and half came from the east overland on the California Trail and the Gila River trail.
