    Ancient Greece Democracy

    Modern democracy first took shape in ancient Greece thousands of years ago. Many aspects of Greek democracy may seem familiar to modern people, while other aspects might seem foreign. Democracy practised in Greece would eventually change the shape of history.

    Haudenosaunee Confederacy

    The nations of the confederacy from east to west the original nations of the confederacy are Mohawk, Oneida, Onondaga, Cayuga and Seneca and the Tuscarora. The confederacy had an oral constitution call the GreatLlaw of Peace and outlined the division of power of government, equal role of men and women, rights and freedoms of individuals speech and religion. Thomas Jeffereon and Benjamim Franklin were inspired.Many similarities between the Great Law and the Declaration of Independence.

    Magna Carta

    The charter became part of English political life and was typically renewed by each monarch in turn, although as time went by and the fledgling English Parliament passed new laws, it lost some of its practical significance. At the end of the 16th century there was an upsurge in interest in Magna Carta.It was used to argue against the divine right of the king and towards supporting the people over church and the monarchy.

    This was a period in European history, from the 14th to the 17th century. It is described in history as "the cultural bridge between the Middle Ages and modern history. It was a time of social, intellectual, political, and artistic change. Humanist belief in individual human worth.

    This time period consisted of the the reforming of the catholic church. it also marks the end of middle ages. Martin Luther believed the church was corrupt and had too much power. This was a time of moving political and economic power from the church and towards the people.

    A European intellectual movement of the 17th and 18th centuries. Central to Enlightenment thought were the use and celebration of reason, the power by which humans understand the universe and improve their own condition". This is the principle of individualism and the rights of individual people over collective.

    Industrial Revolution

    The Industrial Revolution was the time of new manufacturing processes. It lasted from 1760 to 1840. "This transition included going from hand production methods to machines, new chemical manufacturing and iron production processes, the increasing use of steam power, the development of machine tools and the rise of the factory system". This moved towards private property, free market and away from a mercantile system.

    The American Patriots in the Thirteen Colonies won independence from Great Britain, becoming the United States of America. They defeated the British in the American Revolutionary War in alliance with France and others. The American revolution moved from an extreme role of the monarch and government to govenment by the people. more individual freedom and self-reliance.

    Occured after the American Revolution. The government was broke due to funding many wars and corrupt spending. The general people were staving and started a rebellion. It ended with the passign of the Declaration of the rights of man. This declaration outlined men are born free and equal, polical associaiton is to preserve the rights of many, liberty and the freedom to do anything that does not harm another, law is the expression of general will and free communication of ideas for all

    Changes in the Class System

    Renaissance, reformation, age of enlightenment, the revolution in america and France and the industrial revolution resulted in changes to society. Life is no longer directed by social class. Due to classic liberal principles people can change their position in life and move from poor to rich.
