    The ALS Ice Bucket challenge was a social media movement that helped raise awareness and money for the ALS disease. People would dumb large buckets of ice water on themselves, pledge to donate money to the ALS foundation and then nominate someone else to do the challenge. This was widely popular on Facebook and Twitter. #icebucketchallenge helped to others follow the movement.

This made same-sex marriage legal in all 50 states and greatly changed the lives of many who had been waiting for a reform such as this. The taboo demonstration cost Kaepernick his job but has brought more awareness to violence and racial inequality.
