    The U.S dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima to force Japan to surrender. The bomb was detonated 2,000 ft. above Hiroshima. The bomb destroyed five square miles of the city. About 150,000 people died in Hiroshima.

    America discovered Soviet ballistic missile deployment in Cuba. Created tension between the U.S. and the Soviet Union. JFK agreed with Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev to remove the missile from Cuba in exchange for the U.S. not to invade Cuba. Communism would've spread if the situation wasn't settled.

    John F Kennedy is assassinated while traveling through Dallas, Texas. He was shot by Lee Harvey Oswald. John F Kennedy is taken to Dallas Parkland Hospital. He was pronounced dead 30 minutes later in Dallas' Parkland hospital
