    This was the day that Scott decided to sue for the freedom he felt he had deserved. Dred Scott was brought into a free territory by a surgeon general. The Blow's sold him, in the free territory he lived for 12 years so he flet he had the right to sue for his freedom. His first court suit he lost, his second one he won. But, finally he appealed to the supreme court and lost his final case. He was sold back to the Blow family and was set free by first wife's son.

  • Kansas- Nebraska Act

    Kansas- Nebraska Act
    This was the date that the Kansas- Nebraska act became an official act. A man named Steven Douglass athe senator of the sate of Illinois wanted to run for president. He had to get the souths support. To do so he introduced an act this act said that the poeple could decide whether they wanted to be a free or slave state. This was called Popular Soveriegnty, he wanted everyone to forget the Missouri compromise. This in turn caused an uproar for many people.His idea ended up being wron, of course

    wrong. Of course it made the south happy at the idea that they may have another state to expand their slaves and profit. But, little did they know that in that area cotton was not able to grow, the climate was not the same.This idea got Stephen a lot of hate from his own group. The idea had looked better on paper.

    This was the date that the incident in Lawerance, Kansas. A group of southeners with the support of a proslavery federal marshal, looted nespaper offices and homes in the town of Lawerance, Kansas. This event in turn caught John Browns attention. He believed he was gods instrument. He led Englanders into a proslavery settlment at night near Pottawatomie Creek. Here Brown and the Englanders dragged 5 men from their homes and and killed them in front of their families.

    This was the day that Lincoln won the election without being officially sworn in. The eletion of !860 included Abraham Lincoln, John Bell, John Beckenridge, Stephen Douglass,. Some of them wanted to expand slavery aggressivly, while Lincoln had moderate views on slavery. His personal beliefs said otherwise, Lincoln had hated the idea of slavery, but as president he had to set his personal beliefs aside. He wanted to keep slavery where it was and not expand it.

    Continued: When it came to election time Beckinridge got 72 votes, Douglass got 12, Bell got 39, and Lincoln got 180. None of which were southern votes. This aggrivated the south and made them feel threatened by the republicans
  • Attack on Fort Sumter

    Attack on Fort Sumter
    The date that i chose was the date that the fort was attacked. The fort was surrounded by several confederate gun batteries, and confederate forts. They were completely cut off, no way a battle ship could get its way to the fort because it couldnt make it through the marshes and swamps. Also the supply ships couldnt get through because they had no way of defense. General Beauregard said he would form a ring of fire around the fort and he did. He bombed the fort until it surrendered.

    This is the date of the attack and the bombardment of the fort. Fort Sumter was surrounded by gun batteries, and confederate forts. It had no possible way of getting supplies of any kind out to the fort. The war ships couldnt make it through marshes and the supply ships would have no way of defending themselves. Then near the end General Beauregard said he would create a ring of fire around the fort. He shot and bombed the fort until it surrendered
