Skateboarding started in the 50's. Mellow surfes got the idea to surfs the streets. No one knows who made the first board, but surfing the streets, was a new born sport.The old school skaters started out with wooden boxes or decks, with roller skate Wheels slapped on. -

At this time, skateboarding was mostly downhill slalom or Freestyle, not much grinding and no big air jumps done on the streets of NYC. During the 70's, dur to Freestyle contests, skateboarding took an evelotionary boost toward the sport that we see today. -
80's
During the 80's, skateboardig began to influence clothing styles, music and culture. -
90's
The first puplich skate park in NYC opnened in middle of 1990's -
2000
since 2000 skateboardig has become more mainstream. there are talks about skateboarding becoming an olympic sport.
