    What- The Missouri Compromise of 1820 was when Missouri wanted to enter the union as a slave state, but many people did not like this because then there would be more slave states than free states. So rather than making everyone mad, they entered Maine as a free state so the balance was still even.
    Why-So the balance between states was still even.

    Where-Land aquired from the Mexican War.
    What-The Wilmot Proviso is when a motion was passed to banned slavery in the land aquired from the Mexican War. This mad many pro-slavery people mad so in the negotiations 2 million dollars were added.
    Why-To banned slavery in the Mexican Cession.

    What-The Compromise of 1850 was quite like the Wilmot Proviso as in reguarded the land from the war. As I said the people were not happy about the Wilmot Proviso so they came up with another compromise.

    What-This compromise said that upon capture slaves would be returned to their slave owners. These also included free states.
    Why- So that runaway slaves were returned to their owners if caught.

    What- This event was when the US Congress allowed the people of Kansas/Nebraska to vote wether they want slaves or not.
    Why- Because they wanted those states to vote on if they want slavery or not.

    Where-On the border of Kanas and Nebraska
    What-Pro Slavey members would go to Kanas to vote for slavery and Anti-Slavery members tried to stop them. This ended up resulting in a bloody conflicts.
    Why-Because they didn't think it was ok for other states coming to vote for their interest.

    What-Dred Scott v. Sanford was where a slave named Dred Scott sued for his freedom, but was denied because he was considered property.
    Why-Because his owner died so he believed he was not property anymore.
