Operation Barbarossa was code name for Germany's invasion of the Soviet Union. About 4 million soldiers invaded the USSR. This was the largest invasion in U.S history. -

This event killed 90,000 to 166,000. Destroyed many Japan cities. A large number of people died from burns, radiation sickness, and other injuries. -
Atomic Bomb dropped on Nagasaki, Japan.
No one could tell that the bomb was coming. The skies were cloudy so the first site of it was when it came through the clouds. It missed it's target by 500 meters. -
Formal surrender of Japanese Forces on USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay.
Two weeks after accepting Allies terms, Japan surrenders. The ceremonies took place on the battle ship. Anchored with other United States and British ships.
