    The Second World War started in 1939 on the 1st of September. The Nazi Germany attacked Poland and with the help of the Soviet Union they managed to complete the invasion.
  • Bombing of Kassa

    The bombing of Kassa served as a reason for Hungary to enter the war on the side of the Axis powers. For a long time it wasn't clear who bombed Kassa, but the widely accepted idea is an accidental Soviet bombing.
  • Pearl Harbour

    The Japanese air-forces attacked the American fleet stationing in Pearl Harbour, Hawaii. It served as a reason to the USA to enter the war on the side of the Allies.
  • Disaster at River Don

    The Second Hungarian Army suffered a serious defeat at the bend area of the River Don. Huge number of soldiers died, got injured or became prisoners of war. The rest of the army had no other choice than retreating.
  • Siege of Stalingrad

    Siege of Stalingrad
    The end of the Battle of Stalingrad meant the fail of the Barbarossa Operation and a turning point in the war. The German offensive got stopped and they started retreating.
  • D-Day

    The Operation Overlord started with the D-Day. The forces of Eisenhower landed at Normand. This meant that Germany had to fight on two fronts and this contributed to the fall of the Third Reich.
  • Hungarist takeover

    After Horthy's try to jump out of the war, the Gestapo kidnaped his son, so he had to give the power to Ferenc Szálasi who totally served the interest of the Germans, he became the leader of the nation.
  • Siege of Budapest

    In 1945 on the 25th of December the fights started for the capital between the united German, Hungarian forces and the Soviet, Romanian troops. On 13th of December the Axis powers lost the Budapest.
  • Capitulation of Germany

    After the complete collapse of the German army, the death of Hitler and the loss of Berlin, Germany had no other option than capitulating.
  • Japanese capitulation

    After the series of losses on the Pacific front, and the two nuclear attacks against Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Hirohito emperor decided to capitulate.
