Sandy the Squirrel (SCIURDAE)

    5 bugs were inside the cooler crawling around, but no site of flies or other insects were spotted.

    No insects present, Sandy is still very much intact.
  • Day 3

    Bloating has begun, and a fly was seen to enter Sandy
  • Day 4

    Day 4
    Blow flies are present, and bloating has continued.
  • Day 7

    Day 7
    Head has decomposed, leaving only the skull. Insects are more present-such as ants and flies.
  • Day 8

    Day 8
    Head and neck have further decomposed. Maggots are present- about 1/2 cm in length.
  • Day 9

    Day 9
    The decomposition has progressed. The maggots are about 1 cm in length. There are more then 100 in total.
  • Day 10

    Day 10
    The body is almost fully decomposed. The maggots are 1 cm in length.
  • Day 11

    Day 11
    The body is fully decomposed. There is evidence of larvae in the container. There are new maggots growing, about 1/2 cm in length.
