The Wii's goal was the be capable of almost anything from browsing the web and having weather and news on it alongside to motion controls and impressive graphics making it the most generally like console being able to have something for everyone of all ages. Everyone wanted a Wii when it came out at one point being sold out everywhere for quite some time. Though around this time it was a competition with Nintendo, Xbox, and PlayStation for best console.

    Xbox One
    Microsoft
At this point each console that came out where more of just going for best and most realistic graphics alongside Nintendo and the PlayStation all of them where similar in their function and was more about their games. while still impressive the home console is kind of still around this point as time continues.
While their are other consoles there all pretty similar in the category for home consoles
