  • French and Indian War

    French and Indian War
    The French and Indian War is a significant event that led to the Revolutionary War. This war was fought for dominance in the east, fighting for land and controlling trade routes such as the Ohio River were the main causes of the war. After the war was fought, the colonist had contol of the land east of the Appalachian Mountains. The colonist are beggining to solve the issues between the colonies and form their own country. They are acting more like a country and less like 13 seperate colonies.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    After the French and Indian War, the Bristish were in debt due to the war. To help pay the costs of the war, the Bristish decided to add a tax to sugar and molasess. The coloinst were not happy bacause the sugar act was enacted without the consent of the colonist. The colonist for the first time.wanted a say in how much they were taxed. The affect of this act was that colonist could not afford sugar, which at this time was a necessity. This act caused a lot of smuggling to occur in the colonies.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act was set by the British Parliament and forced all pieces of paper in the colinies to be stamped and taxed. This act was created to help raise money to provide the 10,000 stationed soilders at the Appalachian Mountains. This act was not approved by the colonist and the colonist are now feeling that many more outrageous taxes are going to be created. The creation of this act will only make the colonist want indepedence even more. The Bristish feel that they can do whatever they want.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre is very important because the Bristish soilders basically tell the colonist that they are in charge. The story is not fully confirmed but, 5 colonist were killed in Boston by the Bristish soilders. This event is importnant because it draws a lot of attention to the Bristish soilders and their style of rule. After this event, more and more colonist turn again King George III.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    The Boston Tea Party was a very important event that led towards the Revolutionary War. This act was so significant because it told the Bristish that enough is enough. If the British are going to excessivley tax tea, then the colonist are not going to buy it. The Boston Tea Party was a symbloic act and showed how much the Colonist wanted to be independent. For the next 2 years, tension built strongly until the Revolutionary War broke out.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
    The Intolerable Acts were 5 laws that the Bristish forced as a retaliation of the Boston Tea Party. These Acts were the Quatering Act, Boston Port Bill, Administration Act, Massachusetts Government Act and the Quebec Act. These acts were completly unfair and limited all the rights that the colonists deserved. This only gave the colonist more motivation and deire to fight for independence.
  • Declaration of Independence

    Declaration of Independence
    The Declaration of Independence was a document that the colonist sent to the King of Britian asking for full independance from Great Britian. The King did not give any independence . This document was created by the First Continental Congress and stated that "all men are created equal". All the colonist wanted was to be free and independent. If the colonist could not ask for independence, they would have to fight for it, and they did just that fighting in the Revolutionary War.
