  • Mar 4, 1215

    Magna Carta

    signed by King John in Windsor, England. Gave people trial by jury, punishment fitting and not excesive to the crime, and no taxations without representations
  • Mayflower Compact

    Purpose was so that the settlers coming off the mayfkower and landed at plymouth rock would establish a fair government ruled by najority
  • Petition of Rights

    The right granted was the ability to petition the government. Charles the first signed the document
  • English Bill of Rights

    William and Mary were involved in the signing. The rights that were given were freedom from petition, freedom of speech, freedom from royal interference, and freedom to bear arms.
  • French and Indian War

    Shawnee, Sandusky, Seneca, Wea, and Kickapoo were all on the French side. Cherokee, Seneca, Mohawk , Montauk, Oneida, Cayuga, Creek, and Chickasaw were fighting on the British-American side. The major battle of this war was the Battle of Saratoga. The US and Britian won this conflict. The US had to help Britian with nation debt.

    Suggested by Ben Franklin, it never happened. Join or die is the famous cartoon made by Ben Franklin that's associtated with it.
  • King George III takes power

    King George III declared war during the French and Indian War and never made amends with the British.
  • Stamp Act

    All items that were taxed involved paper (newspapers etc.) The colonial leaders repealed it (nots).
  • Boston Massacre

    5 colonishts were killed during the Boston Massacre. Colonists didn't like the tax done by King George III so they performed this act.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Sons of Liberty was political group who organized it. The British made the intolerable acts as a result.
  • First Continental Congress

    George Washington, Richard Henry Lee, Patrick Henry, John Adams, Samuel Adams were involved. They established their own taxes as a result. Took place in Carpenters Hall in Philidelphia, Pa
  • Intolerable Acts

    They passed the acts as a punishment for the Colonists wasting all the money on the tea they dumped in the sea.
  • Lexington and Concord

    As result of this battle, it started the shooting war between the British and the American Partriots. The generals involved were Lieutenant Colonel Frencis Smith for the British and Captin John Parker and Colonel James Barrett for the Colonishts. Paul Revere sounded the alarm at this event.
  • Second Continental Congress

    Took place in the Pennsylvania State House in Philidelphia, Pa. The idea broguht fourth by this was a separation from England. Colonial leaders involved are George Washington, John Adams, Ben Franklin, John Hancock, Samuel Adams, and John Hancock
  • Declaration of Independence

    Thomas Jefferson signed the Declaration of Independence. The 3 major parts of the declaration was the introduction, declaration, and the adressed kind.
  • Articles of Confederation

    The first president under the articles would be John Hanson. Three successes are settlement of land disputes over Ohio valley, stepping stone to constitution, territorial arguments settled. Three failures no executive head of gov't, congress had no power to levy taxes over states, and congress could pass laws but no one followerd them.
  • The Treaty of Paris

    John Adams, Ben Franklin and John Jay represented the US. The territory between the Atlantic on the east to the Mississippi River became property of the US. The British finally recognized American Independence.
  • Start of Constitutional Convention

    The Annaapolis Convention was an agreement over the Chesapeake Bay border lines. The original purpose was to remedy bowndries which limited trade.
