    Magna Carta

    Magna Carta
    Signed by King John of England, near the Windsor Castle. The Magna Carta gave the people the right to a trial by jury, punishments that were justifiable to the crime, and the right to not be taxed unless represended by an offical Government.
  • Mayflower Compact

    Mayflower Compact
    The main purpose of the Mayflower Compact was to set p a Government in the Plymouth Colony.
  • Petition of Rights

    -No one should be ordered to aid anything that is not in common concent in Parliment.

  • English Bill of Rights

    The English Bill of Rights was signed by Willaim and Mary. The main purpose of the Bill of rights was to separate the Church from the State.
  • Albany Plan of Union

    Albany Plan of Union
    Proposal to join the 13 colonies together.
    -The Albany Plan was suggested by Benjamin Franklin and adopted by seven of the American Colonies.
  • French and Indian War

    French and Indian War

    -The war was primarily fought between the Britich colonies and New France. Some of the major battles were the Battle of Jumonville Glen, Battle of Lake George, and the Battle of Signal Hill. In the end the war was won by the British. Unfortuantly, this strained our relationship with Britain becuase they wanted to tax us for the war.
  • King George III takes power

    King George III wanted to tax the American coloniest for the French and Indian war. This didn't go over well with the colonies and this created conflict.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    -Tax on every single printed piece of paper that the colonists used.
    -Patrick Henry wrote the "Stamp Act Resolves" which would try to get the stamp acts repealled,or at least get represntation in Parliment.
  • Intolerable Acts

    -Started with the Quartering Act on March 25 1765
    -King George III wanted to punish the colonies for dumping tea in the harbor.
    -These acts would continue until restitution for the tea was made.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    Five colonist were killed, and six were injured. The whole event was started by an argument over pay due to a wig maker.
  • Boston Tea Party

    The Son's of Liberty orgnised the Boston Tea Party, The British responded to the event with the Coercive Acts. They snuck onto a British trade ship and threw crates of tea overboard.
  • First Continental Congress

    -Patrick Henry, George Washington, John Adams, and John Jay
    -That the colonies would try to break away from Great Britian.

  • Lexington and Concord

    Lexington and Concord
    -The British retreated and they were followed by many more battles.
    -British: Colonel Smith, Major Pitcairne and Lord Percy
    -American: Barrett, Buttrick, Robinson, and many others
    -He rode throught the towns to warn the villagers but never shouted his famous line "The British are Coming" because there were British troops hiding out in the country side.
  • Second Continental Congress

    -Occured at the State House inPhiladelphia, Pennsylvania
    -They decided
    1. To break away from Great Britain.
    2. To form an army called The American Continental Army.
    3.Officially appointed George Washington as the Commander and chief.
    -People involved were John Hancock, Benjamin Franklin, and Thomas Jefferson along with alot of other colonial leaders.

    The first Constitution of The United States that gave too much power to the states and the central government could not keep control.
    -John Hanson was the first President of Congress under the Articles of Confederation.

    Representatives from each state met in Philadelphia to creat a new Constitution of The United States
