    After the French and Indian war, the western land was open for use. The colonists were eager to use this land until the British told them it was off limits. Those who went anyway were on their own.

    First direct tax on the colonist. Almost all printed materials were taxed. This makes colonist protest and is later repealed.

    Declaratory Act
    Colonist protested the stamp act. After England repealed the stamp act, they wanted to still look powerful. This act said that England had the right to make laws for the colonies.

    Townshend Act
    British cracked down on colonist with another tax based act. They taxed glass, paint, paper, and even tea. Protest by colonist ended this act.

    British soldiers killed 5 colonist. This was a big point because a lot of people had new opinions about the British and tensions increased.

    Colonist organized to have a way to inform all the colonies about what's currently going on. This helped them stay connected and better able to resist British forces.
