  • The French and Indian War

    The French and Indian War
    The border between French and British territory was not well known. British colonial forces led an attempt to expel the French but ended up losing as the British were out numbered by the French. The French tried to befriend the British but the British leader only wanted his revenge on the French. An agreement started with Spain and the French but the British declared war on Spain, and the British ended up winning. The whole French and Indian war eventually ended with the "Treaty of Paris".
  • The Proclomation of 1763

    The Proclomation of 1763
    The Proclamation line was a British-produced boundary marked in the Appalachian mountains at the Continental divide. This line made it so that Anglo-American colonists couldn't settle or on land or buy land owned by the French following the French and Indian war.
  • The Sugar Act

    The Sugar Act
    The British legislation wanted to end the trade and smuggling of sugar and molasses from the French. The British also wanted the Dutch West Indies to stop providing increased funds that enlarge the British Empire. The sugar act provided strong custom enforcements on the duties of refined sugar and molasses imported from the non-British Caribbean sources.
  • The Stamp Act of 1766

    The Stamp Act of 1766
    The Stamp Act required colonists to pay a tax. This act was represented by a stamp on various papers, playing cards, documents, etc. It was a stamp created by the British government. However, it was created without the approval of the colonial legislative. You had to pay the tax in hard-to-obtain British sterling, rather than colonial currency.
  • Townshend Acts of 1767

    Townshend Acts of 1767
    The Townshend Acts were a series of laws passed by the British Parliament. They places new taxes and took away some freedoms of the colonists. There were new taxes made on paper, paint, glass, tea and lead.
  • The Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre was a street fight that happened between a patriot mob and squad of British soldiers because of the Townshend act that had just been established.. They were throwing snowballs stones and sticks and many colonists were killed during it.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    The British Parliament passed the Tea Act to try and save troubled enterprise. This law aloud ships the right to ship its tea directly to the colonies without first landing it in England. It also gave commission agents the right to sell tea in the colonies.

    Boston Tea Part
    The Boston Tea Party was a political protest at Griffins Warf in Boston, Massachusetts. The American colonist were very angry and frustrated with Britain for imposing taxation without representation. In response, they dumped 342 chests of tea, imported by the British East India Company, into the harbor.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
    The Intolerable Acts were laws passed down by the British Parliament. These laws were made to punish the Massachusetts colonist after the Boston Tea Party had taken place as a protest against taxation laws passed down from the British Government.
  • The 1st Continental Congress

    The 1st Continental Congress
    The First Continental Congress was held in Carpenters Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. All of the delegates there had discussed boycotting British goods to establish the rights of Americans. They had also planned for a Second Continental Congress meeting as well.
