  • French and Indian War

    French and Indian War
    The French and Indian War pitted colonies against each other as they fought for colonial territory. The British and French fought for land and for wealth. This caused many to hold a grudge over who had land superiority, even if the land wasn't anyone's to claim.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    When the proclamation was passed, British empire began to tighten control over colonies, closed colonial expansion to the westward regions, forbade citizens and governments to buy or make agreements with Natives. This caused many to revolve at the lack of freedom.
  • The Currency Act

    The Currency Act
    There was a shortage of goods like gold and anything that could be contracted from within a mine. This caused many colonies to fight over the distribution of goods. The Currency Act was passed to regulate paper currency, which helped with banks.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    This act taxed sugar, molasses, certain wines, coffee, pimiento,, cambric, printed calico, regulated the exports of lumber and iron, and other basic goods. This caused a decline to rum sales, and an uprising to ban taxes on basic needs and necessities.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    First tax placed on American colonies by the British. British used this to gain money lost during the French and Indian War and to get out of dept. The tax was over many things and caused Americans to revolt until it was removed.
  • Quartering Act

    Quartering Act
    The Quartering Act forced residents of the American colony to house a soldier. This included feeding, clothing, and find sleeping arrangement depicted for the amount of soldiers placed within a household. This cause uprising in New York and surrounding colonies.
  • Townshend Act

    Townshend Act
    The Townshend Acts imposed taxes on glass, lead, paints, paper, and tea tea imported the colonies. This caused an uprising at the abuse of power used when it came to the taxes and who had to pay them.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre was the killing of five colonists by the British regulars. This happened because the growing tension from heavily enforced taxes that were burdened from the Townshend Acts.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    The Boston Tea Party was the dumping of chests into the harbor in 1773. 342 chests of tea were dumped by Massachusetts colonist dressed as Mohawk Indians. This was over the the tax on tea and the shipping of said tea. The uprising caused a lot of problems an led to the Intolerable Acts.

    Intolerable Acts
    The Intolerable Acts were five laws passed to be harsh and meant to punish American colonies for the happening of the Boston Tea Party and other uprisings. The Intolerable Acts caused lots of grudges, and gave reason for the Americans to revolt.
  • Lexington and Concord

    Lexington and Concord
    The Battles of Lexington and Concord were the first official military engagements of the Revolutionary War. It involved hundreds of British Troops who marched just to create a battle. This caused the continuation of the Revolutionary War.
