    Proposal to create a unified government for the 13 colonies suggestd by Ben Franklin. It was not succesful. A popular cartoon was of a snake cut into pieces representing the colonies saying "Join or Die".

    After the French and Indian War tensions tightened as king George III saw colonies grow bigger. He wanted a full army to be stationed in America incase of revolution. Also, becasue of the war taxes grew, which the colonist did not like.

    The British passed this act due to the Boston Tea Party. This act stripped Massachuesetts of self government and historic rights which caused an outrage and resistance in the colonies.

    This meeting took place in Philadelhpia, Pennsylvania. Was called because of the Intolerable Acts. This meeting resulted in the colonies boycotting all British products. This meeting included John Adams, Samuel Adams, and George Washington.
  • Lexington and Concord

    These were the first battles of the Revolutionary War. Fought by Britsh General John Pitcairn and American militia. At Lexington the British easily dispersed the American militia, but at Concord the Americans claimed victory. Paul Revere played a major role by warning that the British were coming,
