Magna Carta

Albany Plan of Union
Proposal to create a unified government for the 13 colonies suggestd by Ben Franklin. It was not succesful. A popular cartoon was of a snake cut into pieces representing the colonies saying "Join or Die". -
French and Indian War
War between Britsh America and France. Later won by the British. Some major battles were the Battle of Montreal, Battle of Fort Necessity, and Battle of Quebec. King George III Takes Power
After the French and Indian War tensions tightened as king George III saw colonies grow bigger. He wanted a full army to be stationed in America incase of revolution. Also, becasue of the war taxes grew, which the colonist did not like. -
Stamp Act
This was a direct tax on British America that required the colonies to produce materials on stamped paper made from London with a revenue stamp on them. Because of this, the colonies boycotted British materials. -
Boston Massacre
Killed 5 civilian men and injured 6 others. Caused by the Stamp Act and the Townshend Act. -
Boston Tea Party
A political protest by the Sons of Liberty in Boston. The Btitish responded with the Intolerable Acts. -
Intolerable Acts
The British passed this act due to the Boston Tea Party. This act stripped Massachuesetts of self government and historic rights which caused an outrage and resistance in the colonies. -
First Continental Congress
This meeting took place in Philadelhpia, Pennsylvania. Was called because of the Intolerable Acts. This meeting resulted in the colonies boycotting all British products. This meeting included John Adams, Samuel Adams, and George Washington. -
Lexington and Concord
These were the first battles of the Revolutionary War. Fought by Britsh General John Pitcairn and American militia. At Lexington the British easily dispersed the American militia, but at Concord the Americans claimed victory. Paul Revere played a major role by warning that the British were coming, -

It took place in Philadelphia. Talked about independence from the British. Benjamin Franklin and John Hancock were both in attendence at this meeting. -
