    The Sugar Act placed taxes on sugar and molasses. This was very unfortunate for the colonists, for they used these items in many things.

    The Boston Tea Party was an outcome of the Tea Act. A group of colonists dressed up like Indians and dumped 342 chests of tea into the Boston Harbor, as an act of protest.

    In this battle, the first "Shot heard 'round the world" was fired, which marked the beginning of the Revolutionary War. The British were on their way to Concord to find a so called weapon storage, only to have this battle in Lexington slow them down.

    Battle of Concord
    In this battle, the British came to Concord to find a so called hidden stash of weapons, which the colonists had dispersed around to hide them. The British started setting buildings on fire, until the colonists sharpshooters and snipers forced them to retreat.

    In this battle, some militia men were forced to hold back British troops from the top of "Bunker Hill", which really was Breed's Hill. The British lines attacked three times, and only succeeded to getting past the militia men on the third try.

    This document was written by Thomas Jefferson in 1776. It states that the United States of America are to be a free country, and to break apart from Britain. This document gives everyone their freedom, and all other major documents would never have been initiated.

    In this battle, General Howe defeated General Washington with a strategy to surround him. General Washington was forced to retreat to New Jersey.

    Battle of Trenton
    In this battle, General Washington led his troups to the Hessians the night after the Hessians had been celebrating. They were completly surprised by Washinton, and Washington announced a victory. A loyalist sent a warning note to the Hessian leader, but he never read it.

    In this battle, General Burgoyne and another one of Britains army forces moved in towards Saratoga from above and below. Both were defeated by American lines along the way, and neither ever made it to Saratoga. This is also the point in the war when France and Spain joined the Americans.

    Treaty of Paris of 1783
    The Treaty of Paris was signed by Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, and John Jay in Paris. The treaty officially ended the Revolutionary War.
