Rene Descartes spent most of his life contributing to philosophy using mathematics. Although he is known as the father of philosophy, he was also the main fighting force in creating the school of rationalism. One of his main focuses was trying to separate philosophy from the church. He used his past knowledge of mathematics to help back up his thoughts and findings in the field of rationalism. Descartes focused much of his time searching for where the soul may lie inside of the human body.
