When I was younger, my dad always strived to read to my brother and me. I remember him reading us the book The Little Mouse, The Big Red and Ripe Strawberry, and The Hungry Bear by Don Wood. This was my favorite book of all time growing up.

When I was in elementary school, I would read almost every day. It was my happy place where I could let my creativity flourish. The first books I got into reading were The Goosebumps books by R.L Stine.

When I was in 6th grade, I began to understand what types of genres I liked to challenge myself with. One genre that always had my mind spinning was a mystery. A book that started this journey was Double Identity by Margaret Peterson Haddix.

In middle school, I got a lot more into reading and came across this book that caught my interest. The book is called 13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher.

Starting my journey to getting my Elementary education degree, I have had to read a lot of textbooks referring to education. This type of reading gives me insight into different kinds of books. It's not something that I am used to reading since it's nonfiction.

When I took Children's Literature, I understood the meaning behind having my classroom library and how that would impact each child coming into my classroom. This class also allowed me to create my own book, which I could read to a small group in the classroom that I assist.

In my current job, I am constantly reading books to children. One thing that I have noticed is that children pay a lot more attention if the book is read with excitement, and as a reader, you try to do different impersonations for each character.
