    Fluency is an important component of learning to read and if you're like me then you will remember one on one sit downs where you would read alloud to the insturture as your word count was monitored.

    I discovered my love for reading at a very early age, one event that was most significant to my reading experience was the yearly summer reading program at the Public Libary. My instructors encouraged me to immerse myself in reading in that way I would continue my reading and language progress outside of school

    Book Fairs were all the rage in elementary and middle school, my school in particular divided the sections by a color yellow for grades 1-2 Blue for 3-4 Green for 5th and Red for advanced. Throughout my early educational career, I looked forward to advancing through the reading colors

    One book in particular that I hold near and dear to my heart is " A Little Princess" as it was the first " big book" that I was able to read cover to cover on my own showcasing my reading progress

    Monumental moments: I never imagined I would be able to read a book containing so many words and pages until I read seven books that contained endless amounts of words and pages. After completing this series my reading confidence skyrocketed

    Although Catcher in the Rye is not my favorite novel it is a memorable one because this was the first novel that allowed me to understand reading with a purpose and disecting characters and hidden menaings behind actions

    Jane Austen although Cliche of me to say allowed me to view reading from a feminine perspective but more importantly challenged my adult reading and comfort zone. We have all heard that old English is dull or hard to read Austen taught me that both were incorrect statements

    As I have gotten older my reading taste have become more open and complex as I entered higher education I realized how significant being able to read and understand what is being read is so crucial to becoming a better reader many people can read but it takes an open mind to learn from the written word and understand the meaning

    Due to the significance of my reading journey and how many of my educators have helped me become the reader I am today I have chosen to pursue a career in eduaction .
