This was my first trip to Simons Town, and along the journey i had an encounter with this long handled bamboo and stainless steel spoon. Sadly, the seller did not know much about its history.

RALEIGH GARDENSGiven as gift, but I am very familiar with this hop in Brixton village. Since I have got information from Mike Groves (artist) and he is very happy to share his spoon carving stories with me.

When back home in June, i aquired a new silver tea spoon from Connard&Sons- given with every piece of jewelry you buy.
This was the journey it took to come back to Cape Town. -
Holcombe Hunt and Conserve.This English silver teaspoon was given to me by my grandmother. It belonged to my grabdfather when he was the hunts master of the holcombe hunt. Holcombe Hunt and Conserve.

A gift from my grandma when I was last home in June. She knows I love hit chocolate, so it is a very special spoon to remind me of her. -

Artist: Lizzie Alderdice, who is an old school friend of mine and this is her first spoon carving. -
the journey back from windhoek, we came across this rather worn silver souvenir spoon. Although I can't track whe it came from, this is the journey we took to reach it.

A beautiful, hand crafted collection of Shell and drift wood measuring spoons. Orginally from Mozambique, but recently given to me, which was only a short journey.

Kindly loaned out for the purpose of the exhibition. A journey within cape town.

An iron spoon, typcally given as a wedding gift. It has taken a long jounrney so far, and will be on loan for the exhibition.

I came across this pewter tea spoon when I took the journey to Social History to enquire about other African spoons. Made by Carol Boyes, and quite weighty. Evidence of a well used life as a tea spoon.

When visiting the social history to loan 4 other spoons for the exhibition, Ester Esmoyl offered her set of 6 Apostile spoons. These where a gift from her mother of which she has had since 1950. They only took a short journey whilst with me.=: journey

This spoon was made from Namibian Dolfie wood I gave to Samson.., a Malawian craftsman. in form it is flat and said to be used more as a serving scoop. It has taken a long journey to be in my 'conversation' section of the xhibition. I filmed the process of the making.
