    Fransis Bacon

    Developed the Bacanian method of scientific investigation that syad observation and reasoning are means of coming togther for a conclusion. This affected society by giving them the freedom to think outside of the church.
  • Rene Descartes

    Was a French person who revolutionized geometry and algebra. He was famous for the statements "I think therefore I am". He affcted society because it improved the learning system of the world and is still used today. Proving that new discoveries arent all bad and dont always have to do with the church.
  • Treaties in Government

    It argues that all men are created equal in the state of nature created by God. Talks of government ruling with out consent of people can be overthrown. Also saying that the govenment should be a democracy rather than a monarchy because monarchy leads to slavery.
  • Social Contract

    Says that as the people we should give up some of our freedoms to the monarchy so in the long run they would protect our majorty of freedoms. This affected society because people wanted more and more freedoms so this definetly caught their eye in it promising more freedoms.
  • Cesare Beccaria

    He wrote the book "On Crimes and Punishments" to stop injusteses in the European judical systems. This affected ociety because it was teaching them that its not horrible to stand up for what you believe in. Even if it goes against the church.
  • Declaration of Independence

    Values equality, liberty, and personal rights. The law supporting rights as citizens and making all men equal. This afected society because it gave them freedom, rights that they had never had before. Rights to think like the leaders of enlightenment with out the fear of being persecuted.
  • Decleration of the rights of man

    Fundemantal document of the French Revolution aand the history of human rights. GIving people the right to think and act of reason out of the church.
  • Bill of Rights

    James Madison borrowed straight from the ideas of enlightenment when creating the Bill of Rights. He included many things from humanism and reason. This made society please with the republic government becuase it gave them freedom from church or to it.
  • A Vindication of the Rights of Woman

    This book really pushes for the rights and equality of women which was a big deal in that time period because women had little rights. It taught society that maybe all men can be equal and in turn more and more people began to stand up for the rights of women.
