    Henry Baldwin Hyde
    The Equitable Life Building in New York City was built under Henry Hyde. Although it would not have been an all steel- framed building, this was the firt office building to feature passenger elevators. Architects who designed this building included Arthur Gilman and Edward H. Kendall.

    William W. Boyington
    Boyington designed the new location for the Chicago Board of Trade. They used steel and granite to construct this building in Chicago. The Chicago Board of Trade Building was the first commercial building with electric lighting. It's construction was called "brilliant and imposing."

    John Welborn Root
    John Root, respected architect of the Chicago School, designed the first all steel- freamed skyrcaper. This Chicago skycraper was named the Rand Mcnally Building. In 1890, Root also designed the Masonic Temple which was the world's tallest building for a while.

    Louis Sullivan
    Louis Sullivan was another great American architect of this time. He designed the Wainwright building in New York. This building was also amongst the first all steel- framed buildings. Because of his "vertical thrust" in its design, this building was considered the first true skyscraper.

    Price designed the American Surety Bulding, another steel- framed building, to compete with the rising height of skyscrapers. This building held title for tallest skyscraper for years and still remains standing in Manhatten today.

    John Mcarthur, Jr.
    New arcitecture in America not only enhanced business, but it also reached government. Scottborn architect, Mcarthur, designed the Philadelphia City Hall. It is the house of governtment for the city of Philadelphia. This building wasn't framed with steel as most in this time; it was built with granite, brick, limestone, and marble.
