    George Russel along with many other Jazz musicians try playing jazz, in a more harmonic way. Miles Davis brought popularity to Modal Jazz. That's how Modal Jazz all began. As we can see from the opening chord to "Maiden Voyage", the pace is slow and smooth.

    Punk jazz originated in the early 1960's in the United States and become extremely popular in the mid 1970's. Punk jazz is usually a mixture of free jazz and jazz fushion. John Zorns, Jame Chance and the Cortotions are famous punk jazz artists.
