    The Ultimate Fighting Championship holds first ever no holds barred one night tournament. The winner was Royce Gracie from Brazil. Gracie won using Brazilian Ju-Jitsu, forcing all opponents to tap out.

  • First Rules Implamented to UFC

    After being under fire for the barbarics of the "no holds barred" fighting. The first set fo rules were put into place to appease local governments and widen the audience base
  • Zuffa Purchases UFC

    Dana White and the Fertitta brothers buy the UFC for $2 Million. Zuffa implamented more rules and regulations to make the sport of Mixed Martial Arts more exceptable in the Untited States.
  • The Ultimate Fighter Debuts on Spike

    The Mixed Martial Arts reality show debuts on Sike television for the first time. The series is still on today in its 14th season. The next season will be shown on FX.
  • The Ultimate Fighter Season Finale

    The Finale of the first season featured the two finalists Forrest Griffin and Stephen Bonner. The fight has been considered the greatest fight in MMA history. The fight brought in the highest ratings in Spike history to that point. Forrest Griffin won the fight but the UFC offered a contract to both fighters.
  • UFC purchases Pride Fighting Championship

    A monumental purchase by Zuffa company. The once proud Japanese based company that controlled the MMA world was bought and integrated into the UFC.
  • UFC 100

    At the time became the the biggest event in UFC history. The event was hel in the Mandalay Event Center in Las Vegas. The event made a $1.79 Million dollar purse.
  • The UFC Purchases World Extreme Cage Fighting

    The Zuffa sister company was absorbed but the big brother company, the UFC. This move combined the only two zuffa companies and added two weight classes to the UFC making it more accessable to smaller fighters.
  • UFC Purchases Strikeforce

    One fo the biggest moves in UFC, second only to the purchase Pride FC. With this purchase the UFC absorbed their biggest mainstream competion. This also was the xreation of the now popular sports phase business as usual.
  • UFC signs deal with Fox

    Probably the most anticipated TV deal in all of MMA. For the first time MMA would be available to the mainstream in prime time. This was considered the biggest step into making the UFC a mainstream sport.
  • UFC Broadcasts Live on Fox for First Time

    For the first time the UFC air a live fight on network television on Fox. It was a one fight event, a fight for the heavy weight title between Cain Valazquez and Junior doos Santos. The fight lasted a 1:04 and ended with dos Santos knocking out Valazquez.
