    Housing and Urban Development Act of 1965
    This plan greately expanded government housing programs. Rent was too high for the elderly and disabled. This plan adjusted all this and also helped poor homeowners, and provided veterans with low pay mortgages. Qualification for public housing was redone to provide more people with shelter. As of 2005, 10,000 employes are involved in the still active Act.
  • Higher Education Act of 1965

    Higher Education Act of 1965
    Low and middle class families had very little oppertunities to go to college, and the colleges themselves lacked the proper resourecs for those attending. LBJ adressed this issue on November 8, 1965, by creating the Higher Education Act of 1965. This provided grants and loans for those less fortunate along with giving more money to schools. The act has been reauthorized 9 times fo the sake of new issues, the latest in 2008.
  • Highway Safety Act of 1966

    Highway Safety Act of 1966
    In the previous year 49,000 Americans perished in car accidents, and this nuber was only expected to increase. In 1966 LBJ preposed Highway SAfety Legislation to Congress. This legislation addressed a large range of issues, including driver's ed, licensing, pedestrian performance, vehicle registration, inspection, etc... It's effects still stand today, but minor adjustments.
