    It was developed by Grace Hopper in 1957 MATH-MATIC is not an acronym It was developed to redesign the A-0 compiler which was previously made by Sperry Rand
  • COBOL

    It was developed in 1959 by professionals called the Conference on Data Systems Languages COBOL is an acronym for Common Business Oriented Language COBOl's primary purpose is to write programs for various businesses
  • BASIC

    Developed by John Kemeny and Thomas Kurtz in 1964 at Dartmouth College BASiC is an acronym for Beginner's All-purpose Symbolic Instrucction Code It was designed to make the language easy for beginners but with advanced features for th experts.
  • LOGO

    Developed by a team from MIT in 1967 LOGO is not an acronym LOGO was designed as a tool for learning.
  • PASCAL

    Developed in 1971 by Niklaus Wirth a member of the International Federation of Information Processing Named after mathematician Blaise Pascal The primary purpose was to "allow for the development of well structured and well organized programs, and to serve as a vehicle for the teaching of the important concepts of computer programming" (groups.engin.umd.umich.edu)

    Developed by Jean Ichbiah and his team between 1977-1983. ADA is named after Ada Lovelace (credited as the first computer programmer) It was developed during a competition for a new programming language.

    C++ was developed in 1980 by Bjarne Stroustrup at Bell Laboratories C++ is an upgrage from the program language C It's purpose was to upgrade the program language C and provide capabilities for object-oriented programming

    Developed in 1994 by James Gosling of Sun Company JAVA is not an acronym but was originally named Oak JAVA was designed to be simple and easy to use programming language to create programs and that can be run on many different systems
  • VISUAL BASIC

    It was developed by Microsoft VISUAL BASIC is not an acronym but came from it's predecessor BASIC It was developed for Windows computers to make it easier to write programs for it's operating systems.
