    The mouse was originally created by Douglas C. Engelbert from Standford Research institute (now called SRI International) in 1964 with its original name being "Computer- Aided Display Control", but later being changed. The mouse was originally made to only havee 3 buttons. It was made with mostly wood with some circuitry inside. This did not change much as computers were not very popular yet.     Steve Jobs recreated the mouse in 1984. Steve job's removed the 3 buttons and replaced it with only 1. It used a ball under the mouse to track the movement and put it in the screen. When Steve Jobs discovered it at Xerox, it was $300 dollars so he decided to use cheaper materials (rubber, plastic, silicon, wiring) and remove all but 1 button the mouse to reduce the price to $15.
