The soviet union believed this would be very easy, even though it was a terrible winter, they actualy wore summer uniforms! They didn't think any fighting would be taking place and that they could walk in and walk out with power. However, the Finns resisted, and they new how to fight in the snow and the cold, which the Soviet union was not ready for and they suffered miserably.
