  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    This proclamation forbid the colonists from settling west of the Appalachian Mountains but it went ignored and the colonists continued to settle west.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    This act split the duty (tax) on molasses hoping that this will stop the colonists from smuggling but it also went ignored and they continued to smuggle in foreign-made molasses.
  • Currency Act

    Currency Act
    Parliament passes the Currency Act prohibiting colonies from using legal tender money.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    Stamp Act of 1765 made colonists have to purchase special stamps for all legal documents, license(s), pamphlet(s), etc... and imposed "stamp duties" on packages of cards and dice.
  • Repeal of Stamp Act

    Repeal of Stamp Act
    Parliament repealed the Stamp Act, but to insure authority passed the Townshend Act on the same day.
  • Boston Massacre

    Main tension came from poor colonists and badly paid soldiers, the massacre started with a mob of colonists that provoked the guards.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Tea Act was passed by parliament, was passed to help struggling English Tea Companies. Tea was thrown into the Boston Harbor off of ships by Native Americans.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
    Parliament passed this act in response to the Boston Tea Party which put into affect the shutting down of the Boston Harbor, initiated Quartering Act which allowed British soldiers to live in vacant private homes, Thomas Gage appointed new governor of Massachusetts implied martial law.
  • Continental Congress

    Continental Congress
    First meeting that had 12 of the 13 colonies present, was held at Carpenters' Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
  • Continental Association

    Continental Association
    Created to boycott any/all contact with British Goods, Reversed the economic sanctions placed on colonists.
