Royal Proclamation
Law set up by King George III that prevented colonists from moving west of the Appalacian Mountains. Colonists did so anyways. -
Stamp Act
Made up for the cost of sending, outfitting, and maintaing troops in Great Britain. It taxed legal documents, diplomas, and even playing cards. -
Townshend Taxes and Boston Massacre
Townshend Taxes were taxes to help pay off the debt for Britains wars. This lead to the Boston Massacre which is what lead to the Red Coats shooting unarmed Colonists. -
Boston Tea Party
The act of colonists going on a British ship and dumped 342 boxes of tea into the ocean. -
Intolerable Acts
It was the coercive acts just with a different name given to it, which punish colony’s. -
First Continental Congress
Consisted of 55 delegates that met in secret. They were bascially the voice for all the colonies. -
Battle of Lexington and Concord
The British had heard about a weapon stash of weapons in Concord. Colonists fought back at the British in Lexington. This is where the shot heard round the world was. -
Second Continental Congress
Created the Continental army. They voted for George Washington to be commanding general. -
Battle of Bunker Hill
Bloodiest Battle during the Revolution War. 400 colonists were injured and killed. 1000 British were killed or wounded. Took 3 waves of British soldiers to take over hill. -
Thomas Paine's Common Sense
First document that asked Britain for independence. It was written for the common person. So anyone could read it. -
Declaration of Independence
Thomas Jefferson wrote this document. It declared independence from Britain. -
Battles of Saratoga
It had 2 battles in it. They were at Freeman's Barn and Bemis Heights. It was bascially the turning point in the war. -
Battle at Yorktown
The French helped the Colonial Army in this battle. The French navy blocked British troops from getting any supplies or reinforcements. -
Treaty of Paris
Britain ceded all land west of the Appalachians to the Mississippi. British Prime Minister Lord North resigned. America won the Revolution war.
