Missouri Compromise
The Missouri Compromise was when Congrtess voted Missouri as a slave state and Maine as a free state. I drew and imaginary line at 36 degress latititude 30 minutes. I kept slavery legal in the South and illegal in the North. -
Compromise of 1850
The Compromise of 1850 was when Calfornia was admitted as a free state. Congress would make territories in the South as slave states. This compromise pleased everryone. -
Kansas-Nebraska Act
The Kansa-Nebraska Act was a bill passed by Stephen Douglas that created two new terriories that were open to slavery. This bill undid the Missouri Compromise.This bill led to war because the North would have more states then the South. It cause a lot of conflict between them. -
Dred Scott Case
Dred Scott was a runaway slave who tried to sue the Federal Court for his Freedom. African Americans could never become American citizens. The Federal Court Missouri Compromise was also unconstitutional. this led to war because the North wanted freedom for the African Americans -
Election of 1860
In 1860, presidental candidates were Stephen Douglas and Abraham Lincoln. Stephen Douglas mostly supported slavery but Lincoln didn't. Lincoln won the election.THis might lead to war because Southerns feared that Congress might abolish slavery. -
Attack on Fort Sumter
The Attack on Fort Sumter was a Confedate attack on the Union forces. The were in the Confederate territory. It was 33 housr of attack. The Union army hauled down white flag for surrender. This started the Civil War. -
