In 1973, Save Muny was created because the lease was almost up and Austin was still growing and UT wants to make more money from the lot.

On May 29, 2019, the current lease for the land is up and if the lot is going to stay a golf course then the city and UT need to come to a mutual agreement on the lease contract.
