    • Tremors begin to shake and rumble from Vesuvius
    • Slight pumice and pyroclastic matter drift from the volcano
    • Buildings begin to get damaged by slight tremors
    • birds fly away as a sign of danger
    • animals are agitated

    • larger tremors continue to emerge from the volcano
    • buildings with terracotta roofs begin to fall
    • Pyroclastic matter continues to dust Pompeii

    • Town covered in pyroclastic ash and matter, the sky is blackened
    • buildings are in wreckage and begin to turn to rubble.

    Pyroclastic matter begins to fall from the volcano
    - lightening strikes and electrical storms begin to start
    - volcanic rock (pumice) begins to fall on Pompeii

    leaping flames and rocks are ejected from the volcano, the sky is lit a red-orange, buildings are almost in complete rubble the volcanic cap is almost completely gone, no voices are animals heard in the forum. the town is covered in a much larger amount of pumice.

    • Town covered in ash, pyroclastic matter and molten rock
    • pyroclastic surges rush like a tsunami towards the forum, completely covering the area in pumice.

    • Town completely submerged in ash and pumice
    • volcanic tremors continue in the town
    • Pompeii is now covered in 4 metres of ash
