  George Washington went to Half-King to negotiate building trading post. George wanted to put them at the Forks of the Ohio. Half-King had rejected George’s request.

  The Virginian settlers were building at the Forks. Then the French came and kicked them out.

  George Washington led a British Patrol of soldiers and Indians that had killed a third of French diplomats. Washington had not known that these French were simply diplomats when he attacked. Jumonville surrendered and had revealed that he was simply a diplomat and George ceased his men, but Half-King went in and finished off Jumonvile.

  The British and French were fighting. It started raining and the British guns were wet. The French had coverage under the trees, so they kept firing and took the fort.

  Gen. Braddock led his army to Ft. Duquesne. They had to try and take the fort. In the end Gen. Braddock ended up dying in battle.

  John Scull had founded the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. It was the 1st newspaper west of the Alleghenies and is very succssful still today.

  Pittsburgh was establishhed as a city. Also, Major Ebenezer Denny became the first mayor.

  The Great Fire destroys two-thirds of the city. It ends up leaving 12,000 residents homeless.

  The county's new courthouse at the time, which was built in 1842, had survived The Great Fire.

  The very popular Pittsburgh Amusement park opens up.

  Afte rmany years, Pittsburgh finally gets its "H" back.

  Henry Heinz, the famous entrepreneur, dies.

  Dr. Frank Conrad creates the amateur station 8XK in his garage.

  The Liberty Bridge was opened.

  As the Console Energy Center gets finished, Mellon Arena comes to an end. Mellon Arena was torn down, and the Penguins had Console Energy Center to call home now.
