    In the mid-1916s, there was an intense outbreak of polio in the mid-Atlantic and New England states. This led to further recruitments in women assisting in the treatments of the patients.

    The field of physical therapy advanced during the first World War as women were recruited to assist the orthopedic surgeons in rehabilitating the injured soldiers. Due to the demand, they formed a new division of special hospitals and physical reconstruction in the US army. The group became to be known as the reconstrution aides.

    Robin McKenzie was from New Zealand, and he had a special interest in spinal disorders. During his practice he developed The McKenzie Method, to help with back pain or neck pain. The method is also known as the Mechanical Diagnosis and therapy, which is a system of assessment, treatment, and prevention strategy.

    After highschool most potential physical therapists will apply to an undergrad school to recieve their Bachelors Degree which will take 4 years. A few programs offer a pre PT program which takes about 3 years to complete. Following that they will be required to take a Doctorite's degree, which takes 3 years to complete. And lastly as a physical therapist you will be required to take a year of residency.

    Physcial Therapists starting out make from a range of $49,806-$87,432.
    Mid-Career they make from a range of $51,697-$98,633.
    And experienced physical therapists make about $70,469-$101,473 per year.

    Duties of a Physical Therapist
    Duites are:
    To enhance physical and functional abilities.
    Avoid the onset symptoms, and continuation of impairments, physical limitations, and disabilities, that may result from a disease, a disorder, or injury.
    Develop discharge plans.
    Perform tests and measures to identify potential/existing problems in the patient.
