Progressive Era
The Progressive Era was a big time of change for America, but also a horrible time for some people. Alot of people were being treated badly. Working hours and pay were really bad and people just wanted money. Progressives worked to change these things. Muckrakers exposed all these things and the Progressives worked to change these. When the Progressive Era ended society was a safer place. -
Election of Theodore Roosevelt
Theodore Roosevelt was sworn into office on September 14th, 1901 after William McKinley got assassinated. -
Split of the Republican Party
During the election of 1912 the Republican Party split in two. Roosevelt got mad because Taft got more popular votes than him so he split into a new party called the Progressive Party. -
Archduke Francis Ferdinand Was Assassinated
On June 28th, 1914, Archduke and his wife were shot and killed in Sarajevo, Bosnia. He was the heir to the Austro-Hungarian family line. Them being killed lead to World War 1. -
The Sinking of the R.M.S. Lusitania
When the German sunk the Lusitania it caused the Americans to go to war because 128 Americans were on the British ship. The Germans sunk this ship with their unrestricted submarine warfare. This meant that any boat in the war zone in Britain would be fired on without warning. The Germans did this so they could block British imports. -
Armistice Day
On November 11th, 11:00 a.m., 1918 the Germans signed the agreement to stop fighting. It became an American national holiday. After World War 2 and the Korean War it was renamed Veterans Day to honor all the veterans who fought in World War 1.
