Pennsylvania History 1600-1800

  • First Settlers on the East Coast

    The first settlers on the East Coast in the northern colonies New Netherlands, New England, Canada/New France. In the middle colonies was Virginia. And in the southern colonies was New Spain.
  • The king signed the carter off to Pennsylvania

    King Charles II owed William Pen 16000 dollars, but then paying him the money he gave him land. The land was officially proclaimed on April 2nd.
  • The Great Law was adapted.

    The great law was the basisi for government in early America. Theyr'e were four major idea of the great law. They were all religions were welcomed but only the christians could take office. You couldn't work on sundays, because sunday was a holy day. Prisons were work houses, bakc in england prisons were a lockup. Also, the only reason you would be put ot death is for murder or treason punishment.
  • French and Indian War

    The french and indian war, during this war the indians were defeated and pushed out of their land. While te french took over Pennsylvania after there victory.
  • Stamp Act

    The stamp at was a direct tax imposed by the British Parliament. This act proposed that many printed materials in the colonies would be produced on stmaped paper produced in London. The act stopped March 18, 1766.
  • War of Independence

    The war started in Boston, massachusettes. The word of the war spread quickly through the colonies. For about 9 months the war remained in Boston, have three major-generals William Howe, Henry Clinton, and John Burgoyne.
