    During this period a new approach in behavorial techniques was developed. The primary focus was based on rehabilitation and the medical model.     Warehousing Era:  1980 - 1995
    During this period emphasis was placed on incapacitation. Prior to this period rehabilitative measures were not working. With this new approach criminals were simply sentenced to prison so they would not be a threat to society. As a result a drastic increase in prison overcrowding was developed.     Just Deserts Era:  1995 - Presents
    During this period there were four primary goals in corrections: rehabilitation, retribution, incapacitation, and deterrence. Prisoners are hel accountable through punishment proportionate to the crime. Fast forward to the present all four goals remain however, punishment through solitary confinement methods are used against the most dangerous prisoners. Barton, A. (2004).
