  • Birth of Paul Allen

    Born into a Jewish Family in 1953 in Seattle, Washington.
  • Founding of Microsoft

    In 1975, Allen and Bill Gates started to market a BASIC computer programming language interpreter, co-founding Microsoft in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
  • Disk Operating System Developed

    Allen materialized a deal for Microsoft to buy a Quick and Dirty Operating System, a system invented by an employ at the Seattle Computer Products, Tim Paterson. This deal led the companies development of the Disk Operating System which they altered delivered to IBM. This IBM deal was a huge contributor to Allen and Gates wealth and fame.
  • Resigned from Microsoft

    Allen purchased his first professional sports team, the Seattle Seahawks NFL team.
  • Purchased Portland Trail Blazers

    Allen purchased his second sports team the Portland Trail Blazers NBA for a total of 70 million US dollars. By 2010, the Portland Trail Blazers were valued at 356 million US Dollars and also ranked at number 14 on NBA teams.
  • RCN Investment

    Allen invested nearly $2 billion in the RCN corporation. This brought his overall holdings in the cable and Internet businesses to over $25 billion.
  • Rock and Roll Museum Opened

    A $250 million interactive rock 'n' roll museum designed by the architect Frank O. Gehry, opened in Seattle as a part of his Experience Music Project,
  • Faye G. Allen Center for Visual Arts and Paul G. Allen Center for Computer Science & Engineering established

    Faye G. Allen Center for Visual Arts was established in the Washington State University, named after Allen’s mother. Paul also donated 14 million US dollars in the establishment of the Paul G. Allen Center for Computer Science & Engineering. As the years followed, Allen donated a large sum of money to the University of Washington Medical School.
  • Herbie Hancock Humanitarian Award
