The Hampton School Board voted 6-0 to renew Superintendent Patrick Russo's contract for four more years. Russo signed a four-year contract when he took the school system's top job in 2004. The new four-year contract runs through June 30, 2010.
  • Patrick Russo resigns

Superintendent Patrick Russo resigned moments before a Feb. 2 School Board discussion on whether to extend his contract. No vote or straw poll was taken, said board member Henry Godfrey, but the majority of the seven-member board was not in favor of extending his contract during a discussion in late January. During that meeting, the board met privately to review each member's assessment of Russo's work. The assessments were compiled and a midyear evaluation was given to Russo.
