The outer banks has a lot of eriosion so in 1957 there was probaly more beach land then now. -
In 2003 hurricane isabel washed a 2,000 feet wide and 15 feet deep channel called Isabel inlet -
during this time period the sea level rose 5 inches.

The outerbanks coastline is 200 miles long. The coastline seperates the Currituck Sound, Albemarle sound and the Pamlico sound.
