This War was fought against the Northern and Southern states. It was fought to end slavery. The Civil War lasted from 1861 until 1865 and over 600,000 soldiers representing both sides were killed either by battle deaths or disease. -

Spanish-American War
The start of this war was caused by an explosion that occurred on the USS Maine and caused the deaths of over 250 American sailors. The Treaty of Paris officially ended the Spanish American War in 1898, which had lasted six months. With this treaty Puerto Rico and Guam fail under American control, Cuba obtained independence, and America controlling the Philippines in exchange for 20 million dollars. -
World War I
World War I was the beginning of America proving their unity as a country. America was a young country that was not yet prepared to fight in this type of war, but they proved otherwise. This war determined the boarders of countries around the world. -
Wolrd War II
President Franklin Roosevelt had declared that they would no longer trade items such as gasoline and iron to Japan who needed it for their war with China. Two years later, the Second World War started when Japan attacketed Pearl Harbor on Dec 7th, 1941. This attack killed over 2,000 people and destroyed many battleships. Another devastating issues going on during World War II was the Holocaust (1933-1945) which killed around 9-11 million Jews -
Vietnam War
Vietnam War started off slowly, with only a few soldiers in Vietnam, but then rapidly more and more troops went out there to try and united the country. We were only there to help prevent the spread of communism and try to unite the country. This war lasted until April 30, 1975. -
Invasion of Afghanistan
The Invasion on Afghanistan started when the terrorist ran into the Twin Towers in New York, which is known as 911. We, as a country, wanted to demolish the al-Qaeda terrorist organization and end its use of Afghanistan as a base.
