Operation Unthinkable

  • VE-Day

Today, the German nation surrendered unconditionally to allied forces. Winston Churchill has already proposed plans for Operation Unthinkable.
  • Russian Movement

Churchill recieves word from his top officers that the Soviet front in Europe is diminishing, with troops headed East. His intelligence reports that Stalin plans on fight ing the Japanese in Asia.
  • Italian Civil War.

Conflicts between the socialist and democratic parties in Italy turn to the worst, when several Italian states (including Milan, Venice, and Sicily) break away from Italy.
  • Period: to

    Italian Civil War

Soviet aided Italian socialists fight against the Italian democrats.
  • Operation Unthinkable Begins

After much deliberation in war cabinets, parliament has agreed to Churchills plan for an all out war on the Soviet Union. A surprise allied invasion force is sent across the German front and begins heading east into Soviet occupied lands.
  • Period: to

    Operation Unthinkable

The brutal conflict between the Allies and the Comintern
  • Germany occupied

Even with the remaining soviet troops, Germany is under total allied control within five days. This gives a huge boost of morale to troops and the British government alike. British and American forces begin the liberation of Poland, while French and re-armed German troops (now under allied control) head into Czechoslovakia and the Balkans.
  • Battle of Warsaw

Until reaching Warsaw, the worst battles had only been against light garrisons. Most allies attributed this to the long march through Siberia the Russians would need to go through. However, when the British arrived in Warsaw, they were quickly attacked, with all routes out being swiftly blocked off by Russian tanks. Over 5 million British and American troops are slaughtered, with only 500,000 soviet casualties.
  • Battle of Olomouc

French and German troops have marched through nearly half of Czechoslovakia, arriving at the city of Olomouc, when another surprise Soviet attack catches the soldiers off-guard (not yet having heard of the massacre at Warsaw). The entire army was captured, and subsequently executed. This, combined with Warsaw has severely shocked allied command, who have now declared total war on the USSR. The remaining forces are to gather in London and Paris, however, America can not spare any more troops.
  • USSR reaches Berlin... again.

Now with little resistance, Russian forces march west, taking back territory from the allies along the way. Czechoslovakia is retaken, and a new puppet government is set up for Germany. Russia then continues to march west taking West Germany and heading towards France.
  • Soviet Netherlands

With Germany now in Socialist hands, the USSR begins invading the Low Countries. When a force of 3 million troops marches into Amsterdam, dutch troops lay down their weapons and surrender to the Russians. The current government is discarded, and a new socialist government is set up.
  • Belgium and Luxembourg fall

Two short days after the occupation of the Netherlands, the remaining 3 million troops simultaneously march into Brussels and Luxembourg. Both nations fought, rather than surrender, but to no avail. Once again, new puppet governments are set up. Soviet forces are now set to invade France.
  • Nuclear Bomb Dropped

The bomber Enola Gay drops a nuclear bomb codenamed "Fat-man" over Hiroshima.
  • Second bomb dropped.

An American bomber, launched from Paris, drops a second nuclear bomb, called "Little-boy", over Moscow. The Kremlin is obliterated, however Joseph Stalin managed to escape due to prior intelligence. Many officers remained, however, and were killed in the blast. This causes confusion and panic among troops, who are now refuse to move further into France.
  • VJ-Day

Nine days after the bombing of Hiroshima, Japan surrenders unconditionally to allied forces.
  • Battle of Wörth am Rhein

With Soviet troops demoralized, a massive allied force is sent from Paris to attack the front line. Wörth am Rhein was by no means the only battle this day, but definitely the largest. 750,000 russian troops were killed here, with over 2 million more dying elsewhere. While Allied troops took much heavier casualties, the Russian line was broken, allowing allied forces to enter into Benelux and Germany.
  • Battle of Berlin

After Wörth am Rhein, Soviet forces retreated into Berlin to regroup. Over 4 million troops garrisoned the city. When the allies entered, it began one of the bloodiest battles since WWII. The fighting lasted over 36 hours, with troops being malnourished and sleep-deprived. Eventually, the allies retreated into Potsdam to recover.
  • Italian Civil War ends.

The Treaty of Rome was signed, bringing the independent Italian states back into a new, socialist Italy.
  • Potsdam Massacre

While the allied forces were resting in the city of Potsdam, Soviet troops launched a full scale attack at 2:00 am. The allies were overwhelmed, with Russian troops executing the entire army.
  • USSR invades France

After retaking Germany and the Low Countries, Russia once more marches to the French border. Troops have recovered from the devastation of Moscow, and have launched an attack on the city of Paris. Soon enough, the allies launching point has been captured, and a new communist French government is installed, with the remaining allies retreating to London.
  • Period: to

    Bombardment of London

During this time period, London recieved its worst attack since the German bombardments. Rather than bombers, Russia launched hundreds of V2 rockets at the city. While most were intercepted, the rockets that hit devastated the city.
  • British Government relocates

When the Russians gave a very special "gift" to the city of London on Christmas Day, Churchill and his cabinet relocated to the city of York. Two days later, Churchill died of wounds recieved from the bombardment.
  • Third Bomb Drops

On New Years Day, another American bomber attempted to drop a third bomb on the city of Kiev, but was intercepted. The explosion set of the bomb anyway, and while the blast hardly touched the city, the resulting fallout irradiated the rest of the city, causing the populous to die extremely slowly and painfully. The images released by the Soviets convined Americans to try to make a quicker to deploy weapon that wouldn't be intercepted as easily.
  • Britain Calls for Peace

With the levelling of London and the death of Winston Churchill, the heads of state for the UK, the US, and the USSR meet in Wörth am Rhein to negotiate peace. Britain and America would cease hostilities with the Soviet Union, while the remaining states in Europe would keep their Socialist aligned governments. While Stalin tried to gain Alaska in the deal, the threat of more nuclear attacks convinced him to leave America as is. WWIII had ended.
