    Mayweather Convicted for Assault Again
    Floyd Mayweather is convicted of another domestic assault on his former girlfriend Josie Harris. He is placed on probation and continues to deny that the event ever took place, even after spending 60 days in jail.

  • Ray Rice (NFL)

    Ray Rice (NFL)
    Ray Rice, a running back for the Baltimore Ravens. assaulted his fiance' Jenay Palmer. Rice was recorded on an elevator security camera knocking Palmer unconscious with a closed fist. Rice was subesequently suspended from the NFL after a highly publicised and controversial case. The brutal nature of this case attracted national media attention and has spurred many changes within the NFL's play punishment policies.

  • Adrian Peterson (NFL)

    Adrian Peterson (NFL)
    Minnesota Vikings running-back Adrian Peterson is indicted on charges of child abuse, after photos emerged of wounds Peterson's child had sustained after he used a tree branch to beat him. He was suspended by the NFL for one entire season due to public outcries and changing NFL legislation designed to prevent domestic and child abuses.

  • Slava Voynov (NHL)

    Slava Voynov (NHL)
    Los Angeles Kings defense-man Slava Voynov was charged with felony domestic violence, and is suspended indefinitely by the NHL. This case exposed the NHL for having no punishment policy in effect for players that commit domestic abuse, and provoked public outrage when the LA Kings continued to pay a salary to Voynov, regardless of his suspension and legal troubles, which has led to significant changes in NHL policy.

  • Jeff Taylor (NBA)

    Jeff Taylor (NBA)
    Jeff Taylor, a basketball player for the Charlotte Hornets is found guilty of domestic abuse charges. Taylor was suspended for 24 games without pay, and has to complete a domestic violence intervention program, alcohol counseling, and community service before being reinstated. This case was considered a landmark case spurring a change in NBA policies under the new commissioner Adam Silver.

  • Jose Reyes (MLB)

    Jose Reyes (MLB)
    Colorado Rockies shortstop Jose Reyes is arrested and charged with abuse of a family member, after assaulting his wife Katherine. This case is one of the first cases that will face punishment under the MLB's Joint Domestic Violence Policy, which has been considered the most progressive, as well as the most serious in terms of punishments and treatment, in all of professional sports.
