    Birth of Avram Noam Chomsky
    Chomsky born in Philadelphia Pennsylvania to his jewish immigrant parents, Ze'ev "William" Chomsky and Elsie Simonofsky. Noah the first born soon became an older brother five years later in 1934 to David Eli Chomsky. The brothers were raised Jewish, taught Hebrew, and involved in speaking on the political views of Zionism.

  • Chomsky starts college

    Chomsky starts college
    At age 16 Chomsky started collage at the University of Pennsylvania. At first nothing piqued his interest and considered leaving university until he met one of the American founders of structural linguistics, Selling S. Harris. Both Harris and Chomsky's political convictions were similar in which allowed Chomsky to find an interest in learning at the school.

    Chomsky achieved his bachelors degree in linguistics in which he applied Harris's methods to language within his thesis "Morphophonemic of Modern Hewbrew."

    Chomsky achieved his masters degree from the university of Pennsylvania where he revised his thesis "Morphophonemic of Modern Hebrew."

    Chomsky achieved his PhD from the University of Pennsylvania in Linguistics and shortly after joined the staff of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Chomsky also began to write his first book known as the Syntactic Structures where discussion of a formal theory of linguistics distinguishes between syntax, the structure of language, and the meaning of semantics.
