    Elie and his father took a four hour walk to the work camp. It was known as Auschwitz 3 or Buna. One of the popular factories of Buna was a brick factory. To this day it still stands as a memorial. After 8 months in Buna him and his father went to a camp called Buchenwald. It was almost 200 miles away.

There was no second chance. The doctor had to clear the bed for the next patient. Then there was a rumor that the camp was going to be liberated.

    All the prisoners arrive in Gleiwitz and are sorted into two directions. One to be killed, one to be sent on a train. After Elie is able to get his father on the train, they start their Journey towards the heart of Germany. 100 bone-thin prisoners travled through hell on their way and acted inhumane in cases of murder and greed. One man killed his own father over a crust of bread. After traveling through a winter snow storm, once 100 prisoners became 12 after arriving at Buchenwald.

    After suffering the worst experience a child could ever experience, Elie finds freedom at last. However, returning from such shock of the violence and cruelty he witnessed, as well as the death of his own father, he never felt the same. He returns from the camp and sees himself a walking corpse. A lifeless soul drenched in dread and sorrow.
